The Spyware ActiveKeylog, records keystrokes by the user and may send this information through email.
The file detected will be called Spyware ActiveKeylog.
The Spyware ActiveKeylog can be installed as part of another program, or by an installer with a user interface.
File names: sys32win.exe
While the Spyware ActiveKeylog may be installed through an installer, the installation path is configurable, and the default is C:\Program Files\Active Key Logger. The spyware may be configured to run in stealth mode, hiding its user interface and system tray icon.
When Spyware.ActiveKeylog executes, it performs the following actions:
Adds the value:
sys32sql = installation path\sys32win.exe
to the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft
\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
so that the spyware runs when Windows starts.
ActiveKeylog Records keystrokes and may send recorded information to a predefined email address.
This spyware program must be manually installed. However, there are several known programs that have Spyware ActiveKeylog within them and that install it as the program itself is installed.
Removing the ActiveKeylog spyware component from the system will likely cause the program that installed it to not function as intended. The uninstaller generally identifies the programs that will not work after uninstallation.
Note: This spyware can be configured to delete itself from the uninstallation list. In such cases, this removal step does not apply.
