Spyware Habits to be uninstalled

The spyware AdRoar is a Browser Helper Object that is used to display pop-up advertisements.

In some circumstances, you may see the message:

"This module was compiled with a trial version of Delphi. The trial period has expired."

The file Cpr.dll will be able to be found in the System folder.

Some versions of the Adware AdRoar can be created along with the trial version of Borland Delphi software. After the trial period expires, you will see an error message when the spyware .dll is loaded.

This spyware would have to be manually installed or installed as a component of another program.

File names: Cpr.dll

AdRoar's Adware does the following

Creates the following registry keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cpr.IEHelperOP

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\
{FAC6E0E1-5D45-4907-BC00-302D702DCC73}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cpr

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft
\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\CPR

Periodically contacts iads.adroar.com to download advertisements.

May download and install updated versions of itself.

Uninstalling the Spyware or Adware

Do one of the following:

On the Windows 98 taskbar:

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

On the Windows Me taskbar:

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

If you do not see the Add/Remove Programs icon, click "...view all Control Panel options."

On the Windows 2000 taskbar:

By default, Windows 2000 is set up the same as Windows 98. In that case, follow the instructions for Windows 98. Otherwise, click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs.

On the Windows XP taskbar:

Click Start > Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

Select "CPR" from the list.

Click Add/Remove, Change/Remove, or Remove (this varies with the operating system). Follow the prompts.

Restarting the computer in Safe mode or VGA mode

Shut down the computer and turn off the power. Wait for at least 30 seconds, and then restart the computer in Safe mode or VGA mode.

For Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, or XP users, restart the computer in Safe mode.

For Windows NT 4 users, restart the computer in VGA mode.

Scanning for and Uninstalling the Spyware files

Make sure to run a full system scan with Anti-Spyware to identify that this security risk no longer resides on your system.

If any files are detected as spyware infected with the Adware AdRoar, click Delete.

If your spyware scanner reports that it cannot delete a detected file, write down the path and file names. Then use Windows Explorer to locate and delete the file. If you ran the Add/Remove programs applet as described in the previous section, it is possible that all the spyware files were removed, and therefore, they will not be detected.

Uninstalling the Spyware Values from the Registry

Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)

Type regedit

Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)

Navigate to and delete the following keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cpr.IEHelperOP

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\
{FAC6E0E1-5D45-4907-BC00-302D702DCC73}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cpr

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\CPR

Exit the registry editor.
